Skinning without freezing?
I found a dying shrew on my way home and took it in to hopefully help it recover, but sadly it was paralyzed and wouldn't take any water or food.
It starved after a few hours and I'd like to preserve the bones (at least skull) now. I don't mind skinning it BUT my fiancée does mind a carcass in the freezer 😅
Everything I have read about skinning so far involved a frozen or rather thawed carcass and I am no expert, so please tell me if it can be done without freezing. :)
I figured maybe if I do it immediately?
Edit: I know that skinning immediately is regular practice as long as body heat is still there, but since shrews are so tiny and probably loose theirs quite fast I wanted to ask here. Might have been dead for nearly an hour by now, I'm not entirely sure.
I was looking for shark teeth in Zeeland, Netherlands and found this instead. Does anyone know what this is?
