What is the most difficult part of finishing a draft for you?

Hey everyone! So basically, the post title. I'm curious to hear from people, particularly novelists and short story writers, who have as hard a time as I do finishing that first draft. What trips you up or holds you back?

I usually knock out a good chunk early on, but then fall into the very bad habit of going back the next day (or next writing session) and reading what I've written, then becoming obsessed with improving it with edits and re-edits before moving on, if I ever do. I can't tell you how many times this has happened, and how many times it has led to me becoming frustrated and abandoning a story altogether.

So what is it for you?

Hey everyone, I'm new here but not new to Reddit, though I haven't been active for some time. I haven't written in a long time, but things have changed recently and I got back into it a little while back. Been decades since I've shared my writing with people, so I'm a little nervous about this, but here it is. This is the first 4400 words of a story that has been floating around in my head for like 10 years. Not gonna give you any context or genre. I just want people to go in cold and let me know what they think.

I have a beta reader feedback form if anyone wants to fill it out. Let me know and I'll drop a link (don't want to do it here because I'm not sure if that'll get me flagged or not).

Just to add, when I go to post this, I get a warning that it might break Rule 2 because the content isn't in the body. But I see plenty of other people posting the images of their writing, so I thought that would be okay. Guess I'll find out...

Hey, everyone. It has been a long time since I've written anything, and even longer since I share any writing with anyone. I'm trying to get back into it, and wanted to get an idea of what people think of my story so far. It's about 4200 words and I don't want to give any context for genre or anything. Just want to see what you think about it.

You can download the PDF at my Google Drive HERE. And if you're interested, I made a Google Sheets feedback form HERE that I would love for you to fill out. If there's some other way you'd rather read it, let me know.

Not gonna lie, I'm a little nervous.
