Can you file a grievance on a signed written warning?
I am being told by my union rep I can’t file a grievance against a written warning (yes the kind you sign).
Edit:
Deleted backstory because I think it’s distracting people from answering the real question. Is a write up a grievable offense? My CBA only says disciplinary action and termination are grievable. It does not detail what kinds of disciplinary action is required for a grievance. My union rep says it’s not and refuses to file a grievance. I heard from others that everything disciplinary can be applied to a grievance unless the contract says otherwise. A grievance to my understanding doesn’t mean arbitration which I know a union can decline because it costs money. But typically there’s at least one step between a grievance and arbitration, and the union rep is refusing that first step.
