Clarification

The recent post containing a Google Drive link with chats of seniors, publicly exposing their names and phone numbers, has been removed due to privacy concerns.

I understand that seniors involved in harassment or ragging should be held accountable and publicly called out for their actions. However, exposing their personal phone numbers is unnecessary and invades their privacy.

If you’re posting similar content in the future, please make sure to hide/redact phone numbers and other personal contact information before posting. Names and relevant conversations can remain where necessary for context and accountability.

Please keep this in mind for future posts.

Why BIT Sindri's tech placements are so Bad?

Why doesn't BIT Sindri attract more tech companies?

BIT Sindri's tech student pool has grown significantly — CSE (70+), CSE-Cyber Security (70+) and IT (140+) and ECE (140) , so around 360 seats. (Coding culture has also improved a lot, with students actively doing DSA, development, competitive programming, AI/ML, internships, etc.)

Yet the number and quality of tech recruiters still seem relatively limited. Like I can name these 3-4 companies coming on campus - TCS , DELOITTE, GLOBALOGIC HITACHI THAT'S IT...so fir 3,4 companies 360 students(though serious 130-150 students) will fight for a on campus opportunity. Off campus nikal bhi loge to uska competition aur jyada hai ( toh ye gyan nai chode ki skills pe kam krlo)

What is actually stopping companies that already visit IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, BIT MESRA Ranchi or NIT Jamshedpur from also recruiting at BIT Sindri? I know their crowd is top teir but aisa bhi nahi hai ki apne clg ka pdhne walo k crowd kharab hai , they deserve atleast 4-6 ki ctc rather than being unemployed . We deserve the opportunities to showcase ourselves atleast. ( 2k24 batch to bc 2nd year , 3rd year aate aate pura serious ho gya hai) bc mass hiring to le aao like accenture cognizant wipro etc. with 5-6 ctc 😔

Is it mainly:

- outdated perception of BIT as a core-engineering college?

- TPO/recruiter outreach?

- lack of strong alumni connections in tech?

- companies not knowing about the improving coding culture?

- or something else?

One reason I definitely know for BIT Sindri's poor tech placements is the state of the TAP Cell.

As a BIT student, I should point out that our placement committee is largely student-run, while professors have very limited involvement in organising placement drives.

Another major concern is the selection of TAP coordinators, POCs and SPOCs. From what I've observed, these positions aren't always decided on merit. Senior-junior favouritism seems common, and there is also a perception of caste-based favouritism, where seniors pass positions to people from their own caste/community. There is a perception that Bhumihar/General candidates are disproportionately favoured, while sometimes an ST member from the BCS club . There are capable exceptions, but merit doesn't seem to consistently be the deciding factor.

The bigger issue is that many coordinators don't seem to do enough to improve internship and placement opportunities despite holding these positions.

With BIT's tech student pool and coding culture improving significantly, shouldn't the TAP system have the responsibility to bring out more on campus opportunities for the upcoming 2028 onwards batches?
