sorry for another panicked post, but i have some questions if anyone can answer them. living in a big city and working in a school has me so paranoid, especially hearing there are some people being monitored in the US. i have a lot of big plans coming up and i see a lot of people in my daily life, so i just feel like im doomed.

1. i saw a post on another sub this morning (hantavirus26 i think) with information from what looked to be a reputable source saying that people can be contagious while asymptomatic. but if this were the case, wouldn’t many more people on the cruise ship/others in the community who have been exposed to those people have it? and there are still only like 10 cases. i’m very confused on what to believe since everything ive read so far says there is only a small window of being contagious, and it’s only after symptoms are present.

3. i’m confused about the symptoms. articles mention that people are being monitored/isolated for cold symptoms like having a runny nose, but online it says you don’t get those symptoms with hantavirus. it just says fever, body aches, and gastrointestinal symptoms. as someone prone to sore throats, runny/stuffy noses, nose bleeds from the weather and allergies/dry air, i’m on high alert all the time. it’s also impossible to get it if you haven’t been exposed to anyone with it/connected to someone who has it, right? and there are no cases/people being monitored in my state or city
