Adopt don’t shop, but you live in a country without street dogs/dog shelters?

Hi all,

I have been considering getting another dog in about a year and I think it would be nice to adopt. However I live in a country without street dogs/dog shelters and most of the ways to adopt a dog is usually by getting a dog that is being rehomed (sadly most of this cases are for dogs with reactivity issues or that need to live in a farm) or import street dogs from other countries, which comes with lots of paperwork and you won’t get to meet the dog until you have already adopted it (which might not be ideal).

Therefore I would like to ask people from countries where there are no street dogs/shelters, have you found a way to adopt a dog? If so, how? And how did it went afterward?

Thanks for all the answers in advance!

3 dogs in an (big) apartment with a patio?

Hi!

This year our roomate is getting a medium size breed (20 kg) puppy and we already have a small dog (12 kg). My partner and I own our apartment and we know that it can easily support 2 dogs, but we have been considering getting another dog of our own, making the total dogs in the apartment to three. We would get it next year so the older dog would be 3 years old, the new dog would be 1 year old and then we would be adding a puppy into the mix. Is this crazy or too much? What are your experiences with having 3 dogs at home? Now this situation wouldn't be permanent because out roommate will probably move out the place in 3 years-ish, but still, that's a long time to have 3 dogs at home. Our apartment has a big patio and its a 3 bedroom apartment, so it has a good size. The new dog would be around 10 kg, so similar size to our current dog, which isn't big but it isn't a miniature dog either.

Anyways, sorry for ranting, the main questions would be: what are your experiences with 3 vs 2 dogs at home? Do you live in an apartment? Should we wait until our roommate moves out to get the new dog (that would make our dog about 7 years old when the new puppy would come home)? All recommendations and suggestions are accepted!
