Has anyone with a real clay tempered blade seen a reduction in Hamon quality from using Mothers mag metal polish (lighter Hamon / fading of white fade line) or has it improved Hamon appearance?

I legitimately want to know, because I primarily use through hardened, mono Spring Steel swords, and I think I’ve only used it on a Suguha Hamon on an HSTS clay tempered 1095 Spring Steel Katana, and never noticed any Hamon change.

I’m under the impression that the Hamon is deep into the steel from structural change, and a Hamon can’t be diminished, only brought out more from polishing?

Obviously you can wipe off a fake Hamon. That’s not what I’m curious about.

My gal found these in her junk drawer. I’m curious if these have any collectable value?

I assume that someone would know about these?

Cutting with the katana in my walking stick

I posted a video the other day on this sub showing a fully customized walking stick (that’s almost 6 feet tall), that holds and conceals a hidden Kris Cutlery 5160 Spring Steel 27 inch Katana blade.

I sharpened the blade even more with my trusted Ken Onion Work Sharp, and made a cutting video with some interesting unique fruits from Krogers/Albertsons (my local supermarket). This is for those of you who were longing to see the monster in action.

While I have not weighed the sword staff, it’s pretty heavy. My guess is around 15 to 20 pounds (?) Just a guess but it’s made for a big guy like me with large hands and tall. This staff isn’t made for the average person. My Dad was slamming the brass bottom cap on the concrete patio slab in the yard for whatever disrespectful reason testing the weight, and it sounded like the concrete slab was going to crack open. I had posted a photo of my Dad in the video for a reference to the size of this monster.

And yes concealed weapons are illegal without a permit, but nobody can tell there is a blade in the staff.
