I just need an agency
Hello there everybody. My question is fairly simple but also kind of complex. I want to join an agency. I came over from South Africa to the States - haven't been here long. I want to join an agency. Simple. I have an agent back in South Africa (SA) but that won't help me here.
Note, this isn't "how do I get an agent" -> it's more along the lines of where can I apply
I have reached out to agencies such as Mitchell & Associates Talent, Alessi Hartigan Casting New Mexico & Presley Talent but have not gotten a response from them. I also got the "scam" text messages that claim I have an audition with a talent agency but its just some platform I pay for in order to meet "real world actors" and other talent, or some kind of talent showcase which I also have to pay for. Sometimes both. A lot of the time it involves paying for classes too and they are almost never an actual talent agency.
I just need a simple talent agency, that can help me get some kind of work. Just get me on set - even as background talent. That is at least a start.
I know that taking classes is a great way to meet the right people, show effort and all those wonderful things but I don't want to spend that money YET.
To sum it up - can anybody please recommend a talent agency (ideally around Albuquerque or LA) that I can just join. It doesn't have to be boutique or fancy pantsy. Just something to start of with.
