Had a few conversations about way to attract tourist to areas and I was curious. How would you feel if a state made man made lakes or used lakes with no fish in it currently to add species not found in the state that have no risk of crossing into others waters via 25 year flood plan? For example here in Minnesota we could add many trout species, Florida bass, darters that don’t need a stream to survive, countless catfish spices, potentially foreign species if they would be compatible in a ecosystem, and plenty of others that don’t need a river to thrive as artificial rivers are a pain in the ass for upkeep and cost. Would you think it would be a decent enough project if the DNR would allow it? I feel like doubling the species you could fish in a state like this would highly promote people to travel here even just from neighboring states for this reason. What do you think? And what would you want brought to your state if you could do this?
