I am tired. I've been in the industry a decade and I find myself still severely unhappy. All of my friends have quit, because conditions have become genuinely unreasonable across the board and pay is nowhere near what it should be for handling the insane requests clients have been coming with lately. I was once perked up and stoked to work with my friends in an office late hours. Now; I work from home and it just means being trapped in my stuffy studio apartment for well over 8 hours which is enough to drive anyone crazy especially when in your personal life you're having to make choices between food, healthcare and life essentials you're that broke.
I'm looking into off ramps. I can't afford to go back to school. I'm thinking of leveraging my experience managing independent projects to prop me up in a junior tech consultant/pipeline technician type role. I, ideally would be the person a company needs when they need a production pipeline / organization system and also needs to then communicate these changes to their employees in a way that they can understand. I feel that, not only would I enjoy it, it's much lower stakes and seems to be sort of similiar in salary on the low end. I'm just looking for some insight into going down that route and where I should be looking.
I have nearly 8 years at big VFX Studios, 6 independent films that I managed my own VFX teams on and 1 television show where I did a similiar thing. It was a lot of organization and pipeline stuff. I feel like the studio experience can be a pretty firm backbone but I haven't the first clue. Just looking for some advice. Life is feeling really bleak lately.
