Sorry in advance if this post is long, I am just at a loss and unsure what my next steps should be. To try make a long story short me, my husband and 2 toddlers moved into a rental in the western suburbs in early march, once we got the keys we discovered the toilet was leaking, we got in touch and it was replaced fairly quickly.
Fast forward to April 18th the toilet started to play up again, and because it’s the only toilet in the property and it was a Sunday we decided to try call the emergency repairs line ( which did not work) so we waited until Monday to email / call our property manager and we did not hear back.
My husband called the office and was told our property manager is no longer employed and that’s why we don’t hear back, they say they will get ontop of the plumbing issue and give us a new property manager.
We wait a few days and have to follow up ourselves as toilet is still not flushing properly, and now the bathroom sink is bubbling and laundry sink is draining slowly, we advise property manager who then sends a plumber 2 days later, they advise the pipe underground is cracked and soil is getting in causing a blockage, they let realestate know.
We don’t hear anything for a week until we follow up and they say they will send another plumber for another opinion, they come look and say the same thing.
The same night 2 plumbers come at 6pm they were sent by the owner and the realestate had no idea about them coming. They do something with a pump and say they are unable to fix the issue as they will need to get an excavator to dig up the yard to fix the broken pipe. Flash forward to now, we have not heard a thing, the landlord and realestate do not communicate, the property manager has no idea what’s going on and the issue is just escalating, outside there is now toilet tissue coming up from the pipe and is pretty disgusting and there is now a smell when the washing machine drains.
We followed up AGAIN yesterday to the property manager asking the same questions and nothing is being done. I’m at my wits end.
What should I do? Thanks for any advice
