Hi everyone,

Looking for some guidance specifically related to Trine University’s master’s programs under Day 1 CPT.

In a scenario where a program at Trine is scheduled to end in May 2027, but a student is considering extending their graduation to December 2027, there seems to be a timing challenge. If the student follows the standard course sequence, all required coursework may be completed by May 2027.

A few questions around this:

- At Trine University, is it possible to defer the capstone/project course to a later term (e.g., Fall 2027 instead of Spring 2027) to extend the official graduation date?

- In case a student does not pass the capstone/project in the final semester but still maintains an overall GPA above 3.0, is it possible to retake the capstone in a later term (e.g., Fall 2027) and thereby extend the graduation timeline?

The goal is to better understand how to stay compliant with F-1/CPT regulations while planning the program timeline within Trine’s structure.

Would really appreciate insights from anyone with experience at Trine. Please DM if you or someone you know has gone through something similar.

Thanks!
