Long story short… my youngest and I were prescribed Azithromycin for strep throat after testing positive. No allergies. This NP has prescribed it to my other child before and I thought it was odd… I’m in my last semester of school and this regimen is definitely not what we were taught but I know real life isn’t always the “textbook”. Has anyone seen this before and have thoughts on why choosing this? As an adult I was given 500mg QD x 5 days… I get the shorter duration but I also thought there was increasing resistance with macrolides?

Also I realize I could ask myself but no one wants to deal with the A hole person who’s like why? And questions the practicing NP.
