I’m a recent graduate ready to enter the surveying industry! Working outside is what drew me to surveying initially, but I recently received a job offer for an office based role doing CAD and other fun stuff. This role(80k) pays more than the field tech positions(65k) I’ve seen, and I’m assuming it’s better for career development as well. I’m trying to determine if taking a lower paying job as a field tech could have similar career progression, or if I’d be sacrificing too much to have more fun outside. I’ll add that I’m planning to study for the FS exam during this next year, if either of these roles is more useful towards passing that. Any advice, help, or recommendations are appreciated as I navigate the beginning of my career!
