My Bluebook HL Diagnostic - Questions and Steps from Here
Just took the Bluebook HL diagnostic and wanted to ask a few questions about prep structure and how representative this thing actually is.
For context, I’ve only been seriously studying for about 4 days since taking it. My current approach has been:
- reading/watching content review videos topic by topic
- doing Anki cards alongside the content
- slowly building understanding before really diving into practice
My exam is in about 4 months, and my tentative plan was to try to finish most content review within 1 month, then spend the remaining time mainly on practice questions, UWorld, AAMC material, FLs, etc.
Does this generally sound like the right approach, or would you guys recommend changing something early before I lock into bad habits?
One major question I had: during Chem/Phys and Bio/Biochem, I was genuinely guessing on what felt like almost half the questions. I know everyone says the HL is deflated/weird, but how representative is it actually of the real MCAT experience and score range? Especially for someone early in content review?
I’d really appreciate any tips, suggestions, or things you wish you knew when you started studying. Anything helps.
