looking at diy retrofit solution. advice on inverter. ac coupled vs hybrid

I have an existing solax 4kwh setup using the fit export system.

i dont wish to touch this as it does just work and is fine for my current needs and i dont want to mess with FIT at the moment.

i was looking at ac coupled inverters to hook up to an old hot tub feed coming from the DNO box. but most dont support adding a pv array to that inverter,.

So i was looking at a growatt sph3600 and fogstar 16kwh battery. #

Would the hybrid inverter be suitable to take excess export from the old PV to charge the batteries and then charge from the grid when prices are low at night?

It seems to me reading the manual that it should but anyone aware of this set up or anyone done similar and your experiences?

thanks

investigating a battery and inverter setup. advice please

hello

I have an existing 4kwh solar array linked into a fit meter. having spoken to the supplier they expect any changes to that system to require a load of hoops to be jumped through .

i have a a 6mm swa cable running into the garage from the previous owners hottub, which i was hoping to use to power an ac inverter to some batteries.

in terms of budget i found the fogstar sna inverter and their batteries to be reasonable. But before i pull the trigger I was unsure how the system would know if I were generating excess solar to charge the batteries and then to use the battery power to offset usage at night. the manual for the inverter doesn't seem clear to me in what settings to use to take excess solar during normal hours then when night comes use the cheaper rate during certain hours.

e-on seem to have a cheap rate for batteries at 14p, which doesnt require proof of EV so still has some savings.

will this set up be able to do what i expect in terms of using excess solar to charge the batteries and get the rest from the cheap grid at night if needed (i could get a pi using the api to stop uneccesary grid charging base don weather?). does the CT clamp manage to provide enough data for the inverter to manage all this?

i just wanted to straight in my head before i got some quotes in as i dont want t pay over the odds for work that I dont understand.

thanks
