Anyone else feel like manual trading works better than algos in this market?

Markets have been extremely volatile lately and I’ve been thinking about this a lot.

Everyone talks about algo trading and AI taking over finance, and obviously systems have advantages like speed, no emotions, instant execution, etc. But in actual live markets, especially during sudden reversals or weird price action, sometimes it feels like discretionary traders adapt much faster.

There are days where price moves make no sense at all and rigid setups just keep getting chopped.

So I’m curious what people here think:

  • Are you trading manually or using algos currently?
  • Have your algos been performing properly in this kind of market?
  • Do you think AI-based trading actually gives a meaningful edge for retail traders?
  • Or do experienced human traders still have an advantage in volatile conditions?
