If you have UARS, what finally made a doctor take it seriously?

Disclosure: I'm an independent developer working on Night Story, a sleep/snoring tracking app (paid subscription, details on the App Store page).

I keep seeing that a lot of people with UARS spend years being dismissed because they don't fit the standard sleep apnea criteria. I'm trying to understand that period better: what actually got a doctor to listen, or to order the right test? Was it a specific symptom, a specific way of describing it, bringing in some kind of data, or just finding the right doctor?

One thing I've built into the app is a report meant to summarize nights of data in a way a doctor can actually use — but I have no idea if that's the kind of thing that would have helped in your situation, or if it's solving the wrong problem entirely. Genuinely want to know what the real bottleneck was for you.

I'm the developer of an iPhone app that records your night and lets you hear your loudest snore. What would make you trust a snore tracker?

Disclosure: I'm the solo developer of Night Story, an iPhone app (paid subscription, price on the App Store page). The mods approved me as a Verified Brand, so I'm sharing it here openly.

What it does:

- Records sounds during the night and shows when they happened

- Saves one short clip of your loudest moment (up to 10 seconds) so you can hear it in the morning

- Clips stay on your phone

What it is NOT: a medical device. It doesn't diagnose or treat anything. If you're worried about sleep apnea or your sleep in general, please see a doctor.

I'd really like honest input from people who deal with snoring every night:

  1. What would make you trust (or not trust) an app like this?

  2. If a partner snores, what matters more to you: how loud or how often?

  3. What do you do right now to check whether you snore?

Anyone else's partner completely deny they snore, even when you've got proof?

Mine swore up and down for years it wasn't them. Turns out it very much was. Curious if this is a universal experience or if I just got the stubborn one.

Realized my partner isn't the only one who's a mess after a bad night

Some mornings you just feel it before you even think about it.

How did you find out you snore? (Genuinely curious about everyone's story)

My partner told me for years I snore and I genuinely didn't believe her —

figured she was exaggerating. Turns out she was right the whole time,

and I only really accepted it after hearing an actual recording of myself.

Curious how other people here found out. Did a partner tell you? Did you

record yourself? Or did you find out some other way entirely (roommate,

sleep study, etc.)?
