Charging question

Hi,

I've had my Kona EV (2025 Ultimate, I'm in the UK) for a few weeks now and I'm having some frustration charging it.

I'm public only charging (absolutely no possible access at home) and only about 1 out of 3 attempts can I successfully initiate charging.

I've tried 4 different charging stations, both CCS and using the supplied Type 2 cable. Same result, the charging unit 'times out' or I get a message via Bluelink along the lines of "Could not initiate charging, please check your display" but there's nothing to see on the display.

I've been able to get it to charge after a few attempts each time, but this is obviously not ideal and not really what I was anticipating. Not least because some of the charging points take a deposit before you start charging and take a few days to return the money if it fails.

I've checked in the app and I don't have any restrictions with schedule timing or the battery limit, which is set to 80% and I've always tried to charge at less than that so I'm confident that's not the problem. I'm also taking extreme care to make sure the cables are plugged in properly.

Before I contact the dealer (it came from a Hyundai main dealer and it's only 6 months old), I'm just checking this isn't normal is it? I haven't got any concerns that it won't be covered if there is a fault, but it's quite a pain for me to get back to the dealer so I thought I'd check before I call them.

Thanks!

App related charging question

I just got my 2025 Ultimate. My first EV. Love it!

I'm public charging only but I have a BE.EV (UK) charging station about 400m from my house so that's where I'll be charging. I signed up to the app and took a subscription, so I need to use the app to charge to take advantage of the lower price.

My first attempt at charging went like this... Plug in. Press 'charge now' in the BE.EV app. It takes £25 pre-authorisation charge. Car does not start charging. I unplug the car and try again. Same thing. Another £25 pre-authorisation charge. I then remember seeing something in the Hyundai app about charging. I try again for a third time, press 'charge now' in the app, then go to the Hyundai app and also press 'charge now'. It says 'cannot charge, check vehicle status' but it knows it's connected to the charger. On the fourth attempt I'm getting a little panicky, I'm not sure what I did exactly but it started charging 🤣

I got the four pre-authorization charges back almost immediately so no problem there.

What I'm wondering is what sequence of events will actually trigger the charging without me having to try multiple times next time!

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
