Anyone here gardened on their neighbors' land?

A few months ago, I moved to an apartment with no balcony. Since then, I’ve been trying to figure out indoor growing alternatives, but the few plants I had didn't make it due to poor light conditions.

For a while, I thought my only option was joining a community garden, but the waiting lists around here are pretty long.

Then I came across a website that matches gardeners with neighbors who have unused yard space. Through it, I ended up connecting with someone nearby who wasn’t using part of their garden and liked the idea of someone growing food there.

Now I have a little garden a few minutes from my apartment with rosemary, oregano, dry beans, winter squash, and a few other things growing.

Is this something that already happens where you live? I know I could just asked my neighbor in person. But for someone with a little social anxiety like me, this was the best option. Thought it would be something worth mentioning for someone in the same situation!

An idea to grow your own food without needing your own land

Like a lot of people around here, I really enjoy gardening, and I feel like eating something that you grew yourself has a different flavor. The tomatoes are sweeter, and the soup out of your pumpkins is the best one you've ever tried.

The thing is, I need more space and to try different veggies. A first approach to this was to sign up for a community garden a few blocks away, but it's full, and they have an over a year waitlist.

And from what I've read on this Reddit, there are also people in the opposite situation. A backyard they're not really using, and might appreciate the help.

There's also Guerrilla gardening, but I read in their subreddit that some people had their plots destroyed with zero warning. Not very keen on that to be fair.

So what do you guys think if I create a list to put whether you are looking for garden space, or someone with unused outdoor space who'd be open to letting someone grow food there in exchange for a share of the harvest? Drop your general area (zip code) in the comments, or send me a DM. And on a side note, great friendships could come out of this as well! It could be a cool community to watch grow.

Is there an app that connects gardeners to landowners?

I used to garden in my parents house but after I moved to an apartment I've been missing it so much! I asked for community gardens close by but they are full. Does anyone know of something like an app to help me find someone?

Edit: I'm based in Atlanta, GA

▲ 1 r/seoul

Hey! I'm looking for coliving communities in Seoul where people live together, maybe work on shared projects, learn from each other through workshops/classes, and have complementary skills. Know of any spaces like this?

I found that most of the hostels in Seoul are not like this, and don't provide a nice space to work and chill.

P.S. While in Jeju, there is one hostel that's like this, and fairly cheap. I'm kind of gatekeeping it because it's too good. But you can send me a DM and I'll share the info if you're interested.
