Help me decide on a larger Sling as a parent EDC

Hello Reddit Community,

I need your help since I have paralysis analysis. I'm in search of a larger parent EDC sling (mom of a 3.5 year old). I am not into purses or messenger bags etc, but like to use slings for around town, going out to restaurants etc. If I go on a all day outing then I will take a backpack with me. So this sling is my EDC. I don't like a girly look, I like a patch and an outdoorsy vibe. I live in Europe, so some of these slings are harder to come by - I would have to order directly from the states and others I can get from an online shop in the EU. I can wait for the bags a bit.

I have researched, and looked at and thought it over and over but I somehow can't decide. So maybe you can give me some inputs. My use case carry is:

  • Carry EDC (wallet, keys, phone, flashlight, knife, small pouch, tissues) - always
  • Small Boo Boo kit - always
  • Wet wipes - always
  • Book to read for myself - sometimes
  • Small change of clothes (underwear, pants) - when I'm with my kid
  • Smaller toys (for the restaurant, or when we go to a café spontaneously) - when I'm with my kid
  • small kids water bottle - when I'm with my kid

After researching I have narrowed my sling search to the following:

  • 1733 Side Hip Pack (7L) - I love the look, the functionality of being able to strap a jacket on the bungee cord and use the bottom straps, webbing, has enough internal organization. However its a big harder to come by because its not always being restocked by I can wait. 7l so enough space, and a good mix between dump pocket and some organization, however its "only" one compartment (but not deal breaker). I can order this from the EU site when back in stock.
  • Greenroom 136 Metrorunner (tactical)- I like the look of the sling and I can personalize it with a patch. Has two separate compartments which is great for organization. Big dump pocket in the main compartment which is good for a bottle and toys and a good sturdy strap. However it doesn't have a bottom strap.
  • Evergoods MHP 3.5 - I like the look of it, and can personalize it with a patch. Has two separate compartments, once for EDC and one as a dump pocket for toys. I like the outdoorsy look and that you can also use it as a hip pack for biking etc. Carries more then the 3.5L. I can order this from the EU site.
  • Packolab Samurai Sling - I like the look of it, and can personalize it with a patch. Like the outer flap where you can carry a water bottle. Lots of good organization. However I don't know if you have everything organized if there is still storage space in the pack for toys etc. Does the organization take up a lot of the "dump" space? I like that its customizable. However this sling is hard to come by with having to wait for lotteries and then having luck to enter one.
  • Kargo Loculus - I like the look of it, and the fact that they can customize it a little. It has enough organization in the pockets plus a good dump pocket. It also can be customizable with a patch and has bottom straps. I like the look of it, and it reminds me of the greenroom 136. However this is one that I would have to order from the U.S. So with shipping and all.

I have considered the Rework Toshi 6L sling, and even though it has good organization and volume it looks a bit boring for me. Also I have seen pictures where when loaded out it sits a bit strange - but I'm not sure.

Any help, inputs? Much appreciated, maybe I can pull the trigger on one of these or wait patiently.

Crazy Horse Craft Minimalist Leather Wallet vs. Tauruscamp Grain/Base with Coin (other similar suggestions)

Hi Wallet community,

Im in search of a new wallet to upgrade my EDC carry. I have been searching for a smaller wallet that holds cards, cash and some coins. Something leather, timeless.

I have been eyeing the Crazy Horse Craft Minimalist wallet and the Tauruscamp Grain/Base model that holds coins.

Does anyone have any experience with these wallets? Or maybe had both at some point and care to share their inputs. Similar suggestions for such a use case?

There isn't that many options out there that also holds some coins. I would appreciate any help. I have spent hours search the web and etsy. Im located in Europe (hence the coins).

Cheers

Help finding "minimal-ish" wallet that holds cards, cash and coins and can be carried in the pocket

Hi all,

I am on a quest of finding a new wallet for myself. I have googled and researched but find it hard to find a wallet that has a smaller footprint but still can hold some coins and can be carried in the pocket.

I live in Europe, so we still use coins. I like carrying extra cash, cards and a small picture of my family. I'm a woman, so sometimes my pants have "female" pockets - although I try to rear away from those and buy jeans that have decent pockets.

Carry:

  • Cash
  • Small picture of the family (like one of those small ones from a passport picture machine)
  • Carry in the pocket (front, back, sometimes depending on the pants throw into the sling)

I have seen so many really cool wallets like the Wildr Hitchhiker, Dango D01 Dapper or Fantom X Walnut wallet etc but they just don't allow for carrying coins. I like leather or wood. I like easy access of my cards. I don't know how I feel about carrying my cash on the outside of the wallet with a money clip.... any feedback? Do you like it, do you lose your cash, do you get side-eyed?

I'm considering the Crazy Horse Minimalist Leather Wallet or the Makey Rhombus wallet. I checked out the Secrid wallet but I'm not sure if the coin sleeve would hold up.

Any suggestions or feedback appreciated. I'm trying to overhaul my EDC starting with my wallet. Something that is sturdy, cool, not dad wallet or one of those girly wallets.

Hello Manybagger community,

I would like to get some ideas to expand my minimalist collection. My bag knowledge is limited and I like reading about bags but I like to be more on the minimalist end.

This is my current bag set up:

  1. Tom Bihn Synik 30 (for travel)

  2. Mystery Ranch 2-Day Assault pack (hiking, outdoors)

  3. Mystery Ranch Catalyst 26 (work bag but to be honest not a fan)

  4. 5.11 AMP 24 (random bag)

What bag should I add? I’m looking for maybe a edc bag for when I’m out around town with my toddler or maybe as a personal item on a flight. Something versatile, I was thinking Evergoods MPL22. Any other suggestions? What else should I add or is a “must have”?

I somehow have no smaller bag. I’m also looking for a bigger sling for edc. Maybe the Evergoods MHP 3.5? Also open for suggestions in that area.

I live in Switzerland so it’s hard to order and send back stuff or looking at stuff in store.
