Hi everyone,

I currently use an HP USB-C Dock G5 with my Windows laptop and two external monitors:

• Monitor 1 connected via DisplayPort to the dock
• Monitor 2 connected via HDMI to the dock

Everything works perfectly on Windows with a single USB-C cable going into the laptop.

I’m now planning to buy a MacBook Pro with the base M5 chip (24GB RAM), but I’ve read that macOS does not properly support MST over USB-C docks like the HP G5.

My question is:

Would this setup work on a MacBook if I:

• keep one monitor connected through the HP G5 dock
• and connect the second monitor directly to the MacBook through the HDMI port?

Would macOS then detect both monitors as separate extended displays?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone using a similar setup. I've understood through my research that I need a thunderbolt hub, but considering I just got the HP dock, I'm not invested into spending even more money on the setup atp.
