Applicant waiting 2.5 years – FOI appeal to DCOS just revealed my completed vetting was mysteriously deleted by 2 Bde staff. Has anyone seen this before?

Lads, I need some advice on how to handle an insane administrative mess with my application for 2 Brigade (General Service).

I've been waiting 2.5 years to enlist. For that entire time, Recruitment staff continuously told me my file was "in progress" and delayed because they were waiting on international vetting from an EU country.

I finally got fed up and filed an FOI request for the tracking data. The lower clerks refused to release it. I appealed it to the Internal Review Officer (Major General / DCOS). I just got his official decision letter today, and it proves I was lied to for over two years.

The DCOS formally admitted the following in writing:

My vetting was never sent to anywhere.

Garda National Vetting Bureau received and completed my vetting quite fast.

In January, 2024, my completed vetting disclosure was inexplicably withdrawn/deleted by Defence Forces staff before anyone even looked at it.

The DCOS explicitly wrote in the letter that it is "highly unusual" for 2 Brigade Staff to withdraw an application when a disclosure was available to view, and they have no idea who did it or why.

So, I’ve been sitting in limbo for years because a staff member deleted my finished Garda vetting, and recruitment just covered it up?
