Male Vs Female Maple (for front yard planting)

They both seem to have a major downside:

  • Male maple: Cakes everything in pollen and makes allergies worse - my family has mild allergies (I'd be looking to get a Brandywine or Sun Valley).
  • Female maple: Cakes everything in helicopters and cleaning them / pulling volunteers is annoying (I'd be looking to get a Red Sunset).

Which will be the the lesser of two evils?

(I'm trying to get one that matures at 35ish feet.)

Composite Patio + Steps Opinions

Looking for opinions as I'm a first time home owner with no experience. This is a new build on a never before developed lot - nothing but grass on all 4 sides of the house.

I'm aware how lucky I am to have such a blank canvas, I just want to do it right so I don't hate my past self!

Patio: thinking of putting up a 18'x25' composite TimberTech patio 4-ish inches off the ground on PVC sleepers. Specific spots for footings to drop in a prefab pavilion.

Steps: 8' wide stairs leading down from back door - not sure if it should match and be composite or just say PT wood (this is the south facing side of the house and I'm worried about heat. The shadows in the 3d pics represent noon-time sun).

Gravel/river stone: I'm aware this sub hates gravel, and this much of it might end up getting pretty hot. Mulch against the house is illegal in my town. Can you think of a good alternative, or will river stone with heat tolerant/desert plants be okay here?

Thanks all!
