I’ve never cleaned my dob primary since it was built in 2002. It has mostly been in storage and well protected and I’m getting it ready for use.

It’s a 18” f/4 truss design built by myself with lots of ideas borrowed from others. You can see a horrible web page describing it at www.jtmiller.com.

I can tilt the mirror so that it’s vertical and place a catch pan on the rocker plate underneath it. I was thinking of getting a squirt bottle and successively filling it with distilled water and gently squirting the surface and letting gravity do the work without wiping the surface.

Is this likely to work? It’s just dust particles and not really a serious layer.
