UPDATE POST-VET: Strained Budgie Foot.
Okay so I decided go to the vet early (I was originally going on Friday) but I made a appointment for 3:30 today and went. Here's how it went.
So the Vet training to be an Avian one looked over him first, and we told her what we noticed, he was hesitant with his right leg and it was slight (very slightly) lifted and he limped/walked wonky on that side. The Training listen and she did warn us it could be a liver thing (someone mentioned that in the comments of one of my post) and it could be putting pressure on that side causing a limp.
We did mention we don't know if its an injury, (vet would know better) She took us to the room and looked him over, face first, then his feet. She said he was gripping normally and didn't see any wounds or scrapes. She checked his chest and butt and his wings which were all fine. She said it was likely what she thought previously.
We let him walk, and she was actually more concerned about his left leg because she saw the fact he was putting more pressure there a bigger issue. The dr. came in later and he did a more thorough test.
Only he held him and checked him all over, and he had the same thing to say. He looked overly healthy and fed, and his feet were gripping normally so its not a fracture or wound. THEN he pulled/spread his feet/leg out and noticed that his left leg (upper that hidden by feathers. Had a lesion or something. IDK what to call it but a wound or something caused by strain or friction/tension. basically it was redder than normal and that where he believes the issue is from his limp came from. As likely the pain from it cause him to favour the leg more or something. (hard to explain). he was sure that an X-Ray was not needed and that was the cause behind everything.
The Trainee gave us vet tape and told us to cover his perches and anywhere he stands. So we taped his perches, his swing, and his food and water bowl. (we finished the tape). They gave us 4 syringes to give him orally, once a day after food. (we're gonna wait to give him this tomorrow since we got home at around 7.)
For the cream we managed to get it on him, (twice daily) but it is hard. My sister grabs him and I put the cream on and its hard because he barely lets us do it, its hard to extend that leg too so we take turns. I'll try better next time.
We were told to see how it goes until the oral medicine is finished, and bring him back so around Monday maybe? But the cream is for 7 days. We'll see what happens.
I asked about cage layout and if I should lower it, she said to just add some comfortable bedding but no need for flat perches or to lower it. I guess because it's not a foot thing? I hope he gets better because the X-ray + Anesthesia is very expensive ($86 for X-Ray and $100 for Anesthesia) But The vet was sure it wasn't an X-Ray worthy thing.
Pray for us guys and I'd love you guys could give us some options for bedding and how to get the cream on him and his oral medicine and which first lol. Or even your own stories of this.
