Why is it that the so-called "elite" and the ones with the money, wealth, and influence seem to be giving up on humanity? The tech elites argue that humanity's time is over and the next step of evolution is AI and that it is okay if it wiped us out. The majority of the rich and wealthy don't care about the wellbeingness of the planet and humanity in general. And almost all of the politicians look like they are trying to buy a ticket to some sort of apocalypse bunker or space shuttle, and as long as they get that, they are more than happy to set fire on the entire world. I mean everything now a days is dark: our movies, songs, games, jocks,nursary rhymes etc. The old saying is becoming more true now, if there is such a thing as more true :). Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times. I am not being misogynist here, I am just quoting and I think the 'men'

should include women.

In short, why are we hating life? Why? Isn't this probably the best good time in our history?

I may not be an expert of software development or future studies, but I do believe I have a good understanding when it comes to the question of AI. Despite the mega hype, there are some potential dangerous outcomes that need to be addressed when it comes to AI. The irony is, even the very architects of this technology warn of existential risks. This kind of discussions aren't just a technical matter, this is a civilization-defining question that demands democratic deliberation, much like how our nation's senate debates war or constitutional change (yes I know there are people who truly believe that the US or the rest of the democratic world is decaying and that democracy is all illusion. Still...)

Weather for good or bad, the world has involved we the people when it comes to questions like global warming or terrorism, however when it comes to the trajectory of artificial intelligence, we are totally ignored. Everything AI is being charted behind closed doors by a handful of private actors, effectively disenfranchising the very species that stands to be most affected. Shouldn't there be some kind of voting, open for the public? Any thoughts on this?

I think I have finished watching all the Hollywood scifi movies (I am not into tv series as these are not story telling but tools to turn our attention into cash caws) and I am looking for other sources. Please tell me the best Asian scifi movies including China, Japan, Korea, and India.
