Anyone else notice ChatGPT using a more advanced vocabulary lately, but often with odd or incorrect usage? I think it started with the 5.5 update
I feel that with ChatGPT its language use from the beginning was both human and non-human like, in that it was eloquent but so reliably eloquent as to be a bit uncanny.
But recently, it's started using odd language. It perseverates in using the word "salience" in contexts in which it doesn't make sense, and in general it will choose esoteric words that somewhat fit but don't sound natural.
It seems like it's been a step backward, even though I've noticed its memory of past chats has improved and there seems to be a high underlying intelligence that may also be improved. It's been pithier and doesn't have the "bait" questions at the end of each response, which I've appreciated.
