What an experience. Now I’m downloading Saros.
Returnal is now one of my favorite games of all time. I think it was even that before I rolled credits and decided I was going to play Saros as soon as possible. I learned to love the cycle.
I remember hearing great things about the game when it launched, but I just didn’t seem drawn to it. I wasn’t a hater, just thought, sure, I bet it’s good, just not for me. I didn’t want to play a bullet hell game, a rogue lite, or even particularly enjoy the art direction in the trailers. Furthermore, I didn’t understand how the story would be compelling.
After giving it a shot last week, the game shattered all of my misguided apprehensions. I mean wow, what a beautiful game in every facet. Gameplay is great, environments are great, the story is deep (pun intended) or at least more complicated and exciting than I could have imagined, and the game made me emotional, digging deeper into Selene’s grief. What a fucking video game.
I hope the devs still see posts like mine and many other converts. I’m so appreciative of this experience. Now I’m off to continue the cycle in Saros.
