ALR screen, dark spot, pressure mark
I’ve been using an Adeo Ambient Grey 2 screen with a JVC NZ500 projector for about a month now. Overall, the screen is fantastic, great colors and contrast, and in my white living room the difference compared to my previous grey screen is huge.
The screen is an InSuperior Tensio version with a very good tensioning system, perfectly flat with no waves or visible imperfections during normal inspection.
Unfortunately, I recently noticed a darker spot / patch around 3-5 cm in size on the material itself. It becomes visible mainly:
on white test patterns,
during bright movie scenes,
and it’s also confirmed with a flashlight test.
During normal daylight inspection, the screen surface looks perfectly fine. The issue only becomes visible during projection, but once noticed, it can definitely draw attention while watching movies.
I’ve already submitted a warranty claim, but I’m honestly wondering whether replacing the material could potentially make things worse in some other way, since apart from this issue the screen performs really well.
Has anyone experienced something similar with an ALR screen, or specifically with Ambient Grey 2? Is it common with ALR screens? I have never had any experience before. Screen itself was very expensive so I expected it to be perfect.
