Advice for Peaceful & Scenic Family Trip to Manali in late May

Hey everyone!

Me and my family (4 people total) are planning a trip to Manali from 28th–31st May, travelling from Delhi, and I wanted some advice from people who’ve explored the area properly.

We’re not really looking for crowded touristy spots. We prefer scenic, peaceful, slightly offbeat places with beautiful views and photo-worthy locations. We’re okay travelling around nearby areas as well, not just staying inside Manali town.

A few questions:

  1. Which areas around Manali would you recommend for a quieter and more scenic experience?
  2. Should we book our stay in Manali itself, or somewhere nearby like Old Manali, Vashisht, Naggar, Sethan, Sissu, etc.?
  3. What would be better for this trip, taking our own vehicle from Delhi or relying on public transport/local taxis?
  4. Any hidden gems, cafes, short hikes, viewpoints, or less-crowded places you’d strongly recommend?

Would really appreciate suggestions from people who’ve travelled there recently. Thanks!
