The foundation of a women’s suit matters more than people think.

A lot of people think a suit is just about fabric and alterations, but the real difference starts with the pattern. A men’s suit and a women’s suit are built from different foundations. I’m curious how other designers approach this.

Do you think women’s suits should be designed differently from men’s suits?

I’ve been thinking a lot about how many women try to wear or alter men’s suits, but the foundation is completely different. For me, a women’s suit can keep the masculine influence, but it should still be created around women’s proportions from the beginning. Curious what you think.
