How is genre decided?

This question is for the dev really, but I'm asking here so maybe it can inform a few others who care too.

So. How is genre in Bandle decided? Both in the hint and to inform what songs get added in the packs?

I know (from complaint threads on this sub from a while ago) that Wikipedia's genre categorization plays a big role in deciding what a song is labeled as, but to what extent? Looking at Wikipedia, for example, I see that "Don't Speak" by No Doubt is categorized as "alternative rock", but in Bandle, it's labeled as Pop, Rock, Alternative, Ska.

I came to the inference that, as long as the artist is mainly thought of as performing a certain genre, or a song is associated with a certain audience/scene, the song would be labeled as such?

Like how in the Emo/pop punk pack, "Last Resort" by Papa Roach is not labeled as Pop or Punk in Bandle, and is not categorized as emo *or* pop punk on Wikipedia.

Is this accurate to some degree?

By the way, I'm only asking because I'm compiling a couple lists for fun of my ideal Bandle genre packs, but I don't want to get bogged down by details of "well technically, this song isn't categorized on Wikipedia as [xyz] so i can't include it in the list" lol
