San Diego mosque attack
I hope BP tomorrow covers the mosque attack that happened yesterday at San Diego. 3 people were killed and the 2 suspects committed suicide. The 2 suspects were 17 and 19 years old. One of the victims was a security guard who immediately radioed the school which is a part of the mosque complex and they locked down their building. He sacrificed himself to save the kids and the community. An elderly man who volunteers at the mosque was also killed and another man also. The security guard is a father of 9 children.
I’m not that surprised that it isn’t wall to wall coverage since unfortunately Muslims lives aren’t valued as much.
Fox News brought on a rabbi to discuss this and he essentially dismissed it and said it’s likely 2 mentally ill individuals. Another network I can’t recall, I think NPR, they did mention it but spent over half of its airtime talking about the previous synagogue attack that happened.
And of course the far right figures like Laura Loomer essentially justified it, go read her tweets and New York post talked about a far fledged connection this mosque had to 9/11.
The dehumanizing isn’t surprising since the same media dehumanizes Palestinians tbh nevertheless it’s jarring to see.
