Could remote work become popular again if the AI hype dies down?

It feels like companies are pushing AI as a reason to bring people back into offices, even when remote work was working fine

AI can be useful, but it still cannot replace people in many jobs

Do you think remote work will become more common again if the current AI hype eventually slows down?

Would you hire someone who openly admits they use AI for most of their work?

AI is already part of many people's daily workflow, but some employers still see heavy AI use as a negative.

If the final work is accurate and high quality, should the method even matter?

Stepped up when my manager left... now I'm doing two jobs for the same paycheck.

A couple months ago my manager left the company.

Things were a mess at first, so I took on a lot of the extra work to keep everything running. Meetings, planning, reporting, and all the stuff my manager used to handle, while still doing my own job.

I honestly thought it would lead to a promotion or at least a serious pay raise.

Instead, management basically said everything is working fine as it is, so they're not in a hurry to hire anyone. My title and salary stay the same, but the extra responsibilities don't.

Now it feels like I accidentally proved they don't need to replace my manager because I'm already doing the work for free.

Has anyone been in a situation like this?

Did you stop doing the extra work, ask for better compensation, or just start looking for another job?
