Kitchen advice - mystery plumbing in way of dishwasher?

I wasn't planning on ripping out the kitchen last week, but I needed to remove a baseboard to clean out cat litter wedged in the crack from the previous owner and one thing led to another and here we are.

Anyway, long story short the wall behind the plumbing in the kitchen has been built out with a layer of plywood and 70s style fake wood paneling so it butts right up against the hot/cold lines. There is also a mystery pipe that runs the entire length of the cabinet space.

I'd like to have a dishwasher installed but the mystery pipe is about 2 inches too forward with a standard cabinet/dishwasher setup. I was thinking about building out a shelf about it and then installing the cabinets from the shelf forward (no shortage of space in the room).

Has anyone else done creative workarounds to work with weird walls/visible pipes in your kitchen?
