Inspectors!
Hi to my fellow commercial building inspectors. My current specialty is fire stopping.
My question is, does anyone else’s workload feel extremely excessive? The past 2 years I’ve been tasked with managing all Firestopping for 5 high risk projects all at once.
3 Buildings: podium construction with retail, 7 story wood frame multi family apartments all on separate permits
1 Building: 23 story high rise multi family apartment building with retail
1 Building: 200 units, 5 story wood frame construction
2 Towers: 22 stories each with retail, 2 separate permits
1 Parking Garage with retail & office spaces
At this point in time, all of the projects are about 9 months from TCO submission and I am absolutely swamped. 8-10 hours of site visits daily, and then 2-4 additional hours of report writing. Is this normal? Any feedback is appreciated.
