Advice on possible diagnosis??
Over the past month, I have been dealing with on and off chest pain. I have had my heart and lungs checked over at the hospital and everything was normal in my test results, my doctor is struggling to understand what it could be, so now I’m beginning to wonder if it’s Costochondritis. Any opinions or advice would be so so appreciated from people who may have been through this before, as I’m going to talk to my doctor about this soon.
It begins in my pectoral area near my armpit. It then radiates to the rest of my chest and back in the days following. It begins with heart palpitations, my heart beating a lot harder than usual, and then after a while i begin to feel a tight ache in my left pectoral area that can sometimes cause parts of my arm to feel a little fuzzy too. Until it resolves itself after a few days, I continue to have on and off heart palpitations. Once it has spread to the rest of my chest, it feels like a tightness and a hot prickling, almost like a constant itching or buzzing that lasts for at least 2-3 days but sometimes more.
These strange flare ups seem to happen always within a day or two of drinking alcohol. It doesn’t matter how much alcohol: sometimes it’s a reasonable couple of drinks, other times it’s been after blacking out. Sometimes I drink and i don’t get a flare up at all. Nothing else has triggered my chest to feel like this though, only drinking. Bare in mind, I’m not a heavy or casual drinker; I only really drink about once every 10 days.
I’ve had a lot of bloods done recently for B vitamin levels, thyroid checks, liver function and a bunch of other things, and the only abnormal result was a very slight iron deficiency. ECGs haven’t caught anything, so my GP and I are confused on what it could be.
Any help, advice or thoughts would be so so appreciated. This is really screwing up my quality of life at the moment, and means I’m in a pretty constant state of anxiety wondering what is wrong with me. Thank you <33
