HCR Lotteries
Hello everyone,
I’ve been wondering about the HCR housing lottery because my Housing Connect log numbers are always so high but my HCR log numbers have consistently been much lower. I’m a native New Yorker so I wanted to see if anyone with HCR experience could answer a few questions
My HCR log numbers have all been under 2,000:
• Clarkson Estate: 8xx
• East 158: 6xx
• Inspiration 30: 16xx
• Utica Crescent: 18xx
From your experience, do these seem like good log numbers? Do you think I have a realistic chance of getting contacted or receiving an apartment from any of these?
I was selected through Housing Connect once. My log number was 16xx for a 2024 lottery. Unfortunately, I couldn’t move forward because my job was on strike at the time. They eventually contacted me again in March 2026 but by then I made too much for the apartment they had available so they placed me on the waiting list instead. It has remained my lowest log number on housing connect.
I’ve also been applying to Re-rentals , but I haven’t heard anything back from any of those either. Is that normal? Has anyone had success with the re-rental process and if so, how long did it take to hear something?
Another thing is I recently got a promotion and start my new position next week. Should I update all of my applications with my new annual income now, even though I don’t have any pay stubs yet? Or should I wait until I actually start and have documentation?
I’d love to hear your experiences too what your log numbers were, how long it took to be contacted, and whether you were ultimately approved
