NYS labor law meal breaks

I work for a company in which we are entitled to a 1 hour unpaid meal break that can be taken at any time during our work shift. I use my meal break to pick up my children at the end of the day. As a result, I voluntarily don’t take a lunch break. However, I’m required to clock out at the end of my shift. This has been a previously agreed upon arrangement with my employer.

The company is now attempting to crack down on this policy and no longer offer schedule adjustments outside of dr appointments. They are claiming that by not taking a lunch, it violates NYS labor laws. Can anyone provide any input?

*edit: not saying they have to do this. Just questioning if it’s technically “not legal” based on labor laws if it’s agreed upon.
