What does international coverage of your country most often get wrong?

I am from Al-Mantiq, an independent publication covering the Middle East and North Africa, and I’d like to hear people’s perspectives on this.

When you read international reporting about your country, what repeatedly feels misunderstood or missing? It could be how politics works, how people live, the role of religion, or a historical detail that changes the story.

If you could explain one thing to a foreign journalist before they covered your country, what would it be and why?

Specific examples would be especially welcome.
