Using linux to bring back to life macbook
Hello everyone, I’m a university student and I use a computer to study and organize uni related stuff + regularly use Microsoft 365 suite programs because my course requires them. So I would say pretty regular stuff.
Problem is that I do it from a not so portable and slightly awkward to move around gaming laptop (≈17inches/44cm overall diagonally) that has pretty bad battery life.
My question is: would it be possible to breathe new life into my 2019 MacBook Pro using some type of “windows user friendly” distro ?
Idk how stupid the question sounds but the computer does not feel snappy at all and i kind of hate macOS, so I just wonder if there is one that would make it more usable while still being compatible with the programs that i use/need for uni.
Also, would switching to some linux distro somehow make it possible to squeeze out more battery life from the MacBook?
I feel like I should also point out the fact that as time passes and information comes out I keep trusting Microsoft / Windows as an OS less because of lack of privacy and overall worsening experience with each update, so it also would be an experiment to see how much I like linux as an alternative.
Thanks in advance
