I work in a pediatric oncology clinic with several doctors and NP’s and I am the only social worker. There is one female doctor who is Indian and she treats me like I am completely inferior to her. It is maddening. She seems to think my time is not as important as hers and gets upset if I don’t pretend to be less intelligent in my field than she is in hers. I’ve been in social work for 25 years. She’s been a doctor for 6 years. However, she leaves her prayer mat casually folded on a shelf in my very small office, even though I’ve taken it back to hers, and asks if it’s ok to pray in my office while I’m in it. She says to go on about what I’m doing so I do. It doesn’t offend me. I’m just curious as to why she treats me this way.
