Tired of being my bosses henchman
Hey everyone; here’s the sitch: my company is currently experiencing what appears to be major financial hardship. I assist with accounts payable, mainly paying our freelancers and subcontractors invoices. Up until last summer, we would remit payment to contractors quickly, usually always within 2-3 days. But then last September, my boss abruptly told me we were going to have to start delaying payments due to delays in receiving funds on our end. Something I thought what was going to be temporary has now turned into a nearly 8 month long issue and we are still apparently not receiving funds on time, and we at this point are pushing past 30 days for a lot of invoices. I am completely in the dark and I have no knowledge of what the current money issues are, but I have basically have had to be the main communicator to our contractors throughout this entire ordeal, and I feel like I’m being used. My boss doesn’t respond to anyone herself and makes me do all of the communication. I have to add all invoices to a spreadsheet and constantly remind her to check and let me know who can be paid and when. Ppl are started to get frustrated and are sending disgruntled emails (to both of us) and instead of responding herself, she tells me what response to send (and it’s usually just bullshit). It feels like she is just hiding behind me, and I’m really tired of it, seeing as this really is not my problem at all. Also just starting to sound like this isn’t due to just some clients not paying us, and instead a huge mismanagement of company funds.
Do you think my boss is being unreasonable?
