Broken air conditioner in a heatwave.

Broken air conditioner in a heatwave.

We have complained that the air conditioner doesn’t work properly multiple times, and our landlord always insists that it’s fine. With the recent heatwave, it has been especially bad. I have some health issues, so my body has been aching and I’ve been having pretty bad vertigo all day.

It isn’t 100% broken. The coolant leaks, and instead of fixing it, they just replace it. We texted him about it yesterday, and he has not responded.

Update: oh my fucking god

I’m sure anyone who knows anything about spackle knows that it is water soluble. This is why you need to seal it. ESPECIALLY IF IT IS GOING DIRECTLY OVER A SHOWER IN A BATHROOM WITH NO FAN.

we were like “hey, landlord, do you think you could fucking seal this? are you planning of finishing the bathtub???” and then they came in, looked at it, and were just like “nah“.
FUCK YOU MEAN “NAH?”

IT’S. OT EVEM SMOOTHED OVER. WE STILL DINT HAVE A FAN.

as you can probably tell by the all caps and the numerous typos, I am writing this in anger. Hate even.

We were worried we couldn“t shower and they just. Decided not to fix it.

Also. it is the middle of summer where it is like 85 degrees every single day and they still haven’t fixed the air conditioner. They just cleaned the filter. Which they did last year. and it did not solve the problem.

And to every single problem we pointed out, including a door directly into our house which occasioally decides to just not lock, they said “it‘s fine.”

I am so. I can’t even describe.

update: it is 72 degrees outside and it is 77 degrees in my house.

I swear to all things good

we recently had to get our bathtub replaced because black mold had been growing in the walls around it. We had actually been asking for a new bathtub for a while because our old one was flaking on the bottom and dirt and grime got stuck there. It was gross.

Anyway, the black mold basically forced our landlord to do something about it. However.

  1. They removed a sticker in the tub that informed us of the model number and the fact that the shelves that went with the tub were required. They essentially tried to trick us into letting them half-ass it.
  2. They did not remove the sticker gunk and it has left an unpleasant residue on the side of the tub.
  3. This, in my opinion, is the worst atrocity. They added wood borders to the bathtub. Wood. This is going to mold and swell even faster than before. Also, to add insult to injury, the wood trim is covered in dirt and already has chips in the paint.
  4. Our landlord raised the rent after this shoddy job, after promising that he would not do that.

There are several other issues with the house that we have asked our landlord to fix. He has said that he would, but he first said that over 2 years ago. Our door is currently covered with model magic clay because we did not have the tools to do repairs to the wood ourselves.

He owns all the worst properties in town, earning him the title “slumlord”, courtesy of his tenants.

here’s some pictures of the work on the tub.
