Thank you everyone here who offered me advice on my questions about how to quilt this on my domestic machine (in the future I hope to do more FMQ but for this one simple hatch lines worked best) and helped me through the binding process (I settled on a flange binding so I could bring some of the red flannel backing, which matches the threads used for the quilting itself, to the front). I couldn't be happier with how this turned out and am so grateful for everything I learned working through this process.
