Respect Aged Day and a Science Conference!!

I'm traveling to Japan in September. Doing the Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto route. I was planning on heading to Osaka and then Kyoto and booked accommodations in Kyoto for Sep 20-23. At the time of booking, the prices were really good, so I got a good deal.

Today, I was looking up hotels again (just to see what's out there) and noticed that most of the hotels in Kyoto have now tripled in price, just for those dates. Google stated that there's an annual Science Conference happening on the 21st-22nd. With the Respect Aged Holiday (I know it's a small holiday, but shops might close earlier than usual) and the conference, would it be better to switch and go to Kyoto first and then Osaka?

Or will there not be a difference in the crowds and etc.? If not, I rather keep my original plan.

Kamakura on departure day?

My friends and I will be traveling to Japan. On the last day, they will be heading to the airport after check-out because their flight is at 3pm, but mine is at 9pm. I want to squeeze in a solo mini-day trip. Would Kamakura on departure day be too tight? The plan is check-out from hotel in Asakusa, head to Kamakura for the day, then head to the HND around 5. Or should I just head to the airport after hotel check-out and just enjoy the amenities at the airport?
