Trail to Oregon Audition
Hello folks! I'm going to be auditioning in a few weeks for a local production of The Trail to Oregon! and I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions for 32 bar songs that fit this recommendation (and are okay for someone who hasn't done as much musical theater but a lot of improv):
"Please prepare 32 bars of a contemporary song, from either the musical theater or pop music canons. Ideally the piece will showcase both your vocal ability and comedic chops. An accompanist will be provided."
I'll be seeing the people directing in a few days potentially, so I might ask a clarifying question on what they consider contemporary (because honestly I wouldn't mind doing a Tom Lehrer song since a few were redone for Tomfoolery), but I'm leaning towards asking if a TGWDLM song would count because it could showcase comedic ability and vocal stuff (basically I am also considering What Do You Want, Paul or Show Stoppin Number).
Editing to add, I'm mainly going for the role of Grandpa/Cletus.
