I've been able to test the new limits, and they're absolutely awful.
PRO account that hasn't been updated yet: Up to 40-50 messages from the PRO model before hitting a limit, which expires in 40 minutes max.
Updated PRO account: Shocking limits, barely 7 messages out of which only 5 were with PRO, same workflow as always, and what makes no sense: only 4% of the weekly limit.
It's pretty wild. I can understand it with Claude—Opus is incredible, and on its web app, it is capable of doing a lot of thinking.
Gemini doesn't do that; the 3.1 PRO isn't that powerful. They are going to lose if they impose Opus-style limits on a model that gets BEATEN BADLY by Opus.
It's going to hurt when they nerf it.
I'm convinced the Pro model was also quietly updated—it's absolutely brutal. Mind you, I don't use it for programming.
The model totally outperforms GPT 5.5 and Claude 4.7 (Adaptive).
It's going to hurt like hell when Google nerfs it :((((((
New Flash Model?
Today I spent a lot of time interacting with Gemini, and everything was actually going as usual. I mainly used the reasoning (Flash) model, but now, all of a sudden, I’ve noticed a massive improvement.
I think someone else has also posted about the new model integrated into Gemini—it certainly seems to be the case.
What I liked most is that the output seems to be much more extensive; it reminds me of the 2.5 family
