How can I reduce the effects of a patellar dislocation until I can see an orthopedist

Earlier this month, I had my first ever dislocation. I have Ehler's Danlos Syndrome, but it hadn't severely impacted me until I suffered from the dislocation. I am a minor and unable to arrange appointments with an orthopedist or physical therapist. Today, I was told it wouldn't be until July for me to see an orthopedist.

I am worried that the state of my body will deteriorate. I have already lost some stability and muscle in my injured leg. Moreover, the inner part of my knee feels bruised. Research tells me waiting months can lead to severe atrophy and permenant stiffness. I know I'm supposed to do exercises to prevent those effects, but I dont know which ones and how to safely perform them. I have tried a few exercises but the constant clicking and popping of my injured leg scares me.

What I want to know is what exercises should I do. Is it normal for the exercises to cause minor pain? How do I get by until seeing an ortho/PT? Any advice would be a massive help.
